Take Action

Each horse we rescue costs up to $1,500 to buy from the kill buyer, rehabilitate, retrain and prepare for adoption. Your donations of time, goods and money help to defray the cost of loving horses from slaughter to sanctuary, and enable us to save even more equine lives.

Volunteer Your Time

Swingin' D has numerous opportunities for volunteers to help us rescue, rehab and re-home horses.

We try to keep them moving, remembering their training and the work that makes them feel useful and settled, but we can't work with them all at once! Each horse needs regular exercise, feeding, grooming and evaluation. We also need help with ranch office work, shopping and inventory.

Swingin' D trains volunteers in the following:

  • Administrative - We get it! Not everyone likes to get dirty.
  • You can help with scheduling volunteers, planning events.
  • Barn chores - mucking, cleaning stalls, cleaning troughs.
  • Ranch operations
  • Grant writing
  • Horse training
  • Fundraising
  • IT support

  • If you're interested in learning more about volunteering for Swingin' D, please fill out this form.

The cost of rehabilitating each horse is up to $1,500 by the time they're ready for adoption. While we appreciate cash donations, we also accept ranch tools, fence repair materials, halters, saddles and other tack. We also appreciate gift cards to Lowe's, Atwood's, Coweta Co-Op, hay, feed and grooming supplies.
