Horses are expensive! It costs Swingin’ D more than $300 a month to care for a healthy horse with no major issues. Unfortunately, the majority of horses that come to us from kill pens have more than their share of health and behavioral issues. The cost of rehabilitating a horse and preparing it for Happily Ever After can run into the thousands of dollars.
We absolutely could not survive without the generosity of others. Donations of time, goods and money help to defray the cost of loving horses from slaughter to sanctuary, and enable us to save even more equine lives.

Donations
We don’t know what we would do without the kindness and generosity of the volunteers who come to the ‘D to spend time with our horses. Those who want to help us on our mission to rescue, rehab, evaluate, train and re-home horses find multiple opportunities to volunteer their time and talent!
Monetary donations and adoption fees help us to pay for veterinary care, farrier service, feed, hay, supplements and other necessities. But people help us in plenty of other ways that don’t cost a dime!

It’s important to keep our horses moving, remembering their training and the work that makes them feel useful and settled. But there’s no way we can spend time with each and every one of them every day. Each horse needs regular exercise, feeding, grooming and evaluation. We also need help with ranch office work, shopping and inventory.
Pick one of the horses below to sponsor for a month and specify you want your donation to go toward your favorite horse’s care. Come by and visit your sponsored horse any time!
Swingin’ D trains volunteers in the following:
